Patient Guidance on Recording, Filming, and Social Media Use in the Practice

At White House Surgeries, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and private environment for all patients and staff. Please follow our guidelines on recording, filming, and social media usage within our practice to help maintain these standards.

Guidelines for Recording and Filming:

  1. Recording Consultations with Clinicians
    • Patients may request to record their medical consultations for personal use. This can help patients remember important details about their care and share information with family members.
    • Please ask your clinician for permission before recording to ensure transparency and mutual understanding during your consultation.
    • Do not share recorded consultations on social media. Consultations are private interactions meant solely for personal reference and should not be publicly shared to maintain privacy and respect for all involved.
  2. Recording in Public Areas and Reception
    • Recording or photographing in public spaces, including the reception area, is not permitted without explicit consent from both staff and other patients present.
    • This policy protects the privacy and confidentiality of everyone at the practice, as many individuals may be uncomfortable being filmed or photographed.
    • Unauthorized recording in these areas may infringe on the privacy rights of others and could lead to legal consequences under the European Convention on Human Rights or data protection laws.
  3. Social Media Use and Posting Recordings
    • Social media should not be used to post any recordings taken within the practice, especially if they include images or audio of staff, other patients, or consultations.
    • Posting recordings or consultations without consent can be a serious privacy violation and may lead to legal action or the discontinuation of the patient-practice relationship.
    • If you have feedback or concerns about your experience, we encourage you to use our official complaints procedure rather than sharing information on social media. This allows us to address any issues directly and effectively.

Why These Rules are Important

  • Our practice is committed to maintaining a respectful and secure environment. Unauthorized recording or posting on social media can lead to privacy breaches, causing discomfort for other patients and staff.
  • These policies help us comply with confidentiality standards, ensuring everyone at our practice feels protected and respected.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and private environment for all at White House Surgeries.
